Brave's official server connects an agent to the Brave Search API for web, image, video, and local results. Full local-business details require a Brave Search Pro plan; otherwise local search falls back to web results.

The README documents four tools: brave_web_search, brave_local_search, brave_video_search, and brave_image_search. Version 2 defaults to STDIO. HTTP is still available if you set BRAVE_MCP_TRANSPORT.
Local search needs a Pro plan for the full place details, including ratings and hours. Without it, the tool falls back to web search. Extra snippets on web search are also marked Pro. Image search returns URLs and metadata, not the base64 image bodies that version 1 used.
You need a Brave Search API key. That commercial API is why the cost label is paid account, even if Brave includes some free credit. Confirm the current plan on Brave's site.
