Most office work is still a Word document, a PDF, a slide deck, or a note that has to sound like the company. The skills on this page are instruction sets for that work. They are not logins to Google Drive or SharePoint unless you add a separate connector. Several of them do run code on the computer where the assistant is working, in order to build or edit the file. That is more than a chatbot rewriting a paragraph in the chat window.
Anthropic's Word skill creates and edits docx files, including the kind of formatting people expect in a real document: headings, tables of contents, and comments. Its PDF skill covers reading, merging, splitting, form filling, and related file tasks. The PowerPoint skill creates and edits decks. These four document skills are source-available under Anthropic's license. They are the same family of skills Anthropic says power Claude's document features, and the license is not Apache or MIT.
Two other Anthropic skills are about the writing process rather than the file format. Doc co-authoring walks through gathering context, drafting section by section, and then testing whether a fresh reader understands the doc. Internal comms points the assistant at format notes for status updates, newsletters, FAQs, incident reports, and leadership notes. The internal-comms skill is Apache-licensed. The co-authoring skill folder does not include a license file, so this directory does not invent one.
The useful test is mundane. Give it a document you already understand, ask for one specific change, and open the file it produces. Look at headings, page numbers, and whether a table survived. For a deck, look at the slides rather than the chat summary of the slides. For an internal update, check that it did not add a result, a date, or a name you did not provide.
Confidential files need a decision that is not in the skill. If your company has not approved the AI app for customer lists, HR notes, or contracts, do not paste those documents in. A skill that can edit a file can also read the file you hand it. That is the point, and it is also the reason to use a copy.
These entries were summarized from Anthropic's skill files in October 2026. They are untested here. If Claude or another app already bundles the document skills, you may not need to install the GitHub copy at all. The source link shows the instructions the publisher shared.
